Key Requirements for using towing adapter:
Adapter requires a 50mm square removable hitch tow bar vehicle.
Draw bar length (coupling to caravan/trailer front) on trailer or caravan at least 1.3 meter for carrying 2 bikes or at least 1.35 meter for carrying 3 or more bikes with Rock Racks Vertical Bike Rack Bolt On Mount and 1.4m for 50mm Square Hitch Receiver Mount to allow for clearance of bikes when turning. These clearances are tested with Rock Racks Bike Racks only, please contact us if intending to use with other branded racks to ensure clearance of bikes will be sufficient when turning
AUSTRAILIAN, USA, NZ made caravans normally have long enough draw bar. ENGLISH made caravans normally have draw bar that is to short.
Rock Racks towing adapters are easiest to use when paired with a Rock Racks Elite Pro vertical bike rack - Foot latch system makes it much easier to load bikes with rack approx 200mm higher than normal.
Always check the VEHICLES TOW BAR VERTICAL LOAD RATING. The load will be weight of towing adapter + bike rack and bikes + the weight of trailer/caravan at the coupling point. Ideally a vertical load rating 250kg + is preferred for using a vertical bike rack towing adapter with caravan or trailer.

*Available in either BOLT ON ROCK RACKS VERTICAL BIKE RACK MOUNT and 50mm SQUARE HITCH RECEIVER BIKE RACK MOUNT (Bolt on Mount is best for use with Caravans as it reduces the clearance between caravan and vehicle by around 200mm)
*Rock Racks Vertical Bike Rack Mount is BEST OPTION if draw bar length is shorter as reduces clearance required by approx 200mm
*Height adjustment on tow ball tongue allows towing height to be set for level towing on tandem axil caravans and trailers.
*Height Adjustment on bike rack mount allows rack height to be adjusted to ensure adequate clearance of draw bar mounted boxes, gas bottles, trailer winches etc.

FIXED HEIGHT TOWING ADAPTER
Rock Racks FIXED HEIGHT TOWING ADAPTER Is a set height for both towing tongue and bike rack. It will work well with most single axil trailers that don't have any draw bar mounted attachments. The fixed height adapter typically wont work with a caravan especially if it has draw bar mounted gas bottles etc, the Duel Adjustable model is best option for caravans.
